One may wind up as the first woman to lead the United States Senate. Another is young and would probably run again for president. The third may simply resume his role as a congressional maverick and retire in two years. These are among the options that await the losers in the race for the White House.
John McCain, who has wrapped up the Republican presidential nomination, will square off in November against Hillary Clinton, 60, or Barack Obama, 46, both fellow senators locked in a battle for the Democratic nomination. McCain, who turns 72 in August, would be the oldest first term US president. Clinton would be the first female president; Obama would be the first black president and one of the youngest.
"The three face very different situations, but in each case they have to show some grace if they lose -- or they will be in trouble," said James Thurber of American University's Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies.
The first test will be how quickly they are able to set aside the disappointment of failing to capture the White House. It's not easy.
"Who says I've let go yet?" Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, the Democrats' failed 2004 presidential nominee, said with a chuckle and a shrug. "It's difficult. But you have to move on. Being a senator is a great job. You can do a lot of good," Kerry said.
For the first couple of years after his 2004 defeat, Kerry kept a relatively low profile. He emerged much more in the past year or so, criticizing the handling of the U.S. war on terrorism. This year's election will be the first in which two sitting U.S. senators will face each other in the general presidential election. The last sitting senator to win the White House was John F. Kennedy in 1960.

How McCain, Obama and Clinton stand on Iraq
So here are the three major candidates stated positions on the Unites States involvement in Iraq. Currently the United States has 154,000 troops in Iraq.
Republican candidate John McCain has said he would stay the course, maintaining a long-term troop presence with a robust combat mission aimed at routing terrorist and insurgent groups.
Democrat Barack Obama has vowed to begin bringing back American troops from Iraq as soon as he takes office and to have most combat forces home within 16 months.
Hilary Clinton says she would begin reducing US troop levels within 60 days of taking office, continuing to pace reductions according to conditions on the ground.

What's the purpose of Superdelegates?
So what is the purpose of these so called Superdelegates? Superdelegates are seated automatically, based solely on their status as current or former elected officeholders and party officials. They are free to support any candidate for the nomination. So why should a select handful be free to go completely against the democratic will of the people? We have already seen many of these Superdelegates pledge to Obama or Clinton even though the rival had won the state in which the Superdelegate resides. Seems to defeat the purpose of voting in the first place. So it is still conceivable that Obama will win the most states, win the popular vote handiliy and end up losing the Democratic nomination due to these Superdelegates. Doesn't seem right to me at all.
See which way the Superdelegates are pledging HERE .

Dont mess with this Grandma!
An 83-year-old great-grandmother thwarted a would-be purse snatcher with a gas nozzle and an iron grip. Bernie Garcia said a young man approached her at a gas station as she was buying fuel for her van and asked for money. When she told him she had spent all her spare change on gas, he tried to grab her purse.
"But I had it wrapped around my wrist twice," Garcia said, and he was unable to pull it away.
She fought back, spraying his shirt with some gasoline. Both of them kept hold of the purse, and he pulled her to the ground and dragged her a short distance until another man confronted him.
The second man demanded, "Turn her loose, you something something," Garcia said.
The would-be mugger jumped into a nearby vehicle and fled. But a witness got the license plate number, and minutes later, police stopped the car. It had been reported stolen from Espanola, said Santa Fe Deputy Police Chief Aric Wheeler. Garcia and a witness identified one of the men inside as the attacker. He and two other men in the car were charged with robbery and conspiracy.
"They got caught and I'm so glad," Garcia said.
She said she felt fine after the attack, and police say she declined medical attention at the scene. But when she got home, she said, she felt faint and went to bed and woke up Thursday very sore. Her son, a former firefighter, checked her out and found no broken bones.
"My son said, `Why didn't you just give (the purse) up?'" Garcia said. "`Hell no,' I told him. That was my purse. I was fighting for what was mine."

Benefits of Psyllium Husk
Most people have never heard of psyllium husk or of its health benefits. It is a wonderful source of dietary fiber which helps keep your digestive tract healthy and functioning efficiently. It is also beneficial to promoting the health of the colon. Psyllium husk provides bulk, eases passage and helps to speed transit time through the digestive tract. It also aids in glucose absorbtion and may promote healthy cholesterol levels. I personally recommend Colon Pure Purified Psyllium Husk available at any GNC.
