Obamacare continues to fail as Humana pulls out

The failure that is Obamacare continues to suffer a slow death.  The educated people knew right from the start the model had little chance of succeeding.  We are a capitalist country and Obamacare is so overwhelmingly socialist it just could not fly.  We are not a country of taking from productive people and giving to unproductive. As much as the Liberals keep trying to push us to a welfare state.

The latest blow to Obamacare is insurance giants Humana pulling out of most states.  Humana took nearly $1 billion in losses from the coverage this year and will only offer plans in 11 states next year.  This follows the exit from the exchanges of such other insurance giants as Cigna and UnitedHealth Group after ridiculous losses. It’s the much-feared “death spiral”: Too many older, sicker folks are resorting to ObamaCare policies, and not enough younger, healthy folks. So the average enrollee is running up higher bills than the insurers expected — and raising rates will only scare away even more low cost customers.

And countless people stuck buying policies on the exchanges have been shocked at how limited their options (like choice of doctor and hospital) turn out to be.

President Obama and Hillary Clinton both used to pooh-pooh the idea of a “public option”: Government-run health insurance that’s just a step away from European-style socialized medicine. But ObamaCare’s woes have pushed both to start suggesting it may be the only answer after all.

The only answer, that is, besides replacing ObamaCare with a truly market based system that still helps the less fortunate, but doesn’t try to dictate everything from Washington.

More bad news for Obamacare as 300,000 lose coverage in Florida

As if the Obamacare fiasco could not get any worse, it certainly can.  Forget the fact that the website simply does not work and very few are able to sign up at all.  Forget the fact that premiums are higher than anyone ever thought.  Forget the fact that deductibles are through the roof.  Now 300,000 people in Florida found out today that they are losing their insurance.

These are Americans that were already insured.  Now because of Obamacare requirements they are losing their insurance coverage.  Obamacare is requiring more.  Now these people that were happy with their current health insurance are going to have to go find new insurance from some source and that new health insurance will have higher premiums and much higher deductibles.

So much for affordable healthcare.  So much for "every American can keep their current insurance if they choose"  as President Obama promised.  Just another example of Obamacare gone bad.  Just wait.  The bad examples will keep coming too.

It is becoming increasingly clearer everyday that the current administration did not and is not telling the truth on Obamacare.

Obamacare forcing thousands to lose health insurace as companies cancel policies

Health insurance companies are sending notices of cancellation to hundreds of thousands of people who buy their own coverage, frustrating some consumers who want to keep what they have and forcing others to buy more expensive policies.
Insurers say the cancellations are necessary because the policies fall short of what the Affordable Care Act requires starting January 1. Most are ending policies sold after the law passed in March 2010. At least a few are canceling plans sold to people with pre-existing medical conditions.
By all accounts, new policies to replace the canceled ones offer consumers better coverage, in some cases for comparable cost, especially after the inclusion of federal subsidies for those who qualify. They cover 10 “essential” benefits the law now requires, including prescription drugs, mental health treatment and maternity care, and they generally have lower thresholds for what consumers will have to spend before the plan picks up the full cost of treatment.

The Real Math of Obamacare

You’re not exempt from math if you’re a Republican, and you’re not exempt from math if you’re a Democrat. You’re not exempt from math if you’re a liberal, and you’re not exempt from math if you’re a conservative. You still have to do math.

Pull your head far enough out of your politics to have an original thought.

January 1st, 2014 every insurance company is required to take on anyone, no matter how sick they are, and they cannot charge them more than someone who is not ill…You're 500 lbs. you have diabetes, you’ve got cancer, you’ve had three heart attacks you’re going to pay the exact same premium as a perfectly healthy person.

I understand the motivation, and the nobility and the moral imperative behind that. I get that. But that doesn’t change the math, the math is that those people get sick more often and run up more medical bills than someone who is healthy. Duh.

Some interesting statistics regarding ObamaCare

A recent "Investor's Business Daily" article provided very interesting statistics from a survey by the United Nations International Health Organization. The article included a survey comparing the US healthcare system with the socialized healthcare systems in Canada and England which ObamaCare moves the nation towards.

Percentage of men and women who survived a cancer five years after diagnosis:
U.S. 65%
England 46%
Canada 42%

Percentage of patients diagnosed with diabetes who received treatment within six months:
U.S. 93%
England 15%
Canada 43%

Percentage of seniors needing hip replacement who received it within six months:
U.S. 90%
England 15%
Canada 43%

Percentage referred to a medical specialist who see one within one month:
U.S. 77%
England 40%
Canada 43%

Number of MRI scanners (a prime diagnostic tool) per million people:
U.S. 71%
England 14%
Canada 18%

Percentage of seniors (65+), with low income, who say they are in "excellent health":
U.S. 12%
England 2%
Canada 6%

I don't know about you, but I don't want "Universal Healthcare" comparable to England or Canada.
