Australian Gun Ban 12 Months Later

As President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and the Democrats in the United States continue calling for stricter gun laws we have no better example than to look to Australia.  The Liberal leadership Down Under called for a complete gun ban forcing all citizens to turn in their guns 12 months ago.  So now we have a solid 12 months of data showing just what happens when government goes crazy with gun laws.

We already know here in the USA that the areas with the strictest gun laws are also the areas that have the worst crime.  Look no farther than Chicago and Detroit.  Both have had Democrat leadership in place for over 50 years consecutively.  Also look at Washington DC, St Louis and Baltimore.  Super high crime rates with long term Liberal leadership and very strict gun laws.

12 months ago Australians were forced to turn in all their guns to be destroyed by their government.  Over 600,000 firearms were to be turned in at a cost of over $500 million to the taxpayers. Let's have a look at how things have changed in Australia now that there is 12 months of crime data post gun ban.

The first year results are now in: Australia-wide, homicides are up 6.2%, Australia-wide, assaults are up 9.6%.  Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44% (yes, 44%)!  In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300%.  It is pretty obvious that while the law abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not and criminals still possess their guns!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly, while the resident is at home.

Just look to Chicago, Baltimore and Detroit for the result of Liberal Policy

Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in 'successfully ridding Australian society of guns'  You won't see this on the American evening news or hear your governor or members of the State Assembly disseminating this information.

The Australian experience speaks for itself. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law abiding citizens.

Take note Americans, before it's too late! This is exactly what would happen here. Only the trustworthy, law abiding US citizens would turn in any guns at all. The criminals would keep theirs and we would all be in worse danger than before.

Will you be one of the sheep to turn yours in?

Aw, this was a very good post. Spending some time and actual effort to produce a very good article but what can I say… I put things off a whole lot and never manage to get nearly anything done.
