Sarah Palin Would Win Senate Seat Easily

A new poll released this week shows Sarah Palin would easily win a Senate race in 2010 against current Alaskan Senator Lisa Murkowski. The poll predicts a 55-31 margin for Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin still has monster approval ratings in Alaska: 60% of respondents said they view Palin favorably, while 38% view her unfavorably. A 51% majority of Alaskans said they viewed Lisa Murkowski favorably, while 43% viewed her unfavorably.

For her part, current Senator Lisa Murkowski is preparing for a tough fight. She told Politico’s Manu Raju earlier this month that Sarah Palin would face a “tough election” if she decided to enter the race. Murkowski cited her seniority and service as the ranking Republican on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee to dissuade Palin from running.

Former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk Picked as US Trade Representative by Barack Obama

Former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk Picked as US Trade Representative by Barack Obama

Huh? Are you serious? How the heck did this happen? See I have lived in Dallas for 20 years now and everyone here knows Ron Kirk is a nitemare. US Trade Representative? His tenure as Dallas mayor was so well respected that he couldn't even parlay it into a Senate seat as he lost the race in 2002. Kirk will be faced with the concerns of businesses that benefit from trade and concerns by workers that language in workers’ agreements may be too lenient.

The trade representative is an ambassador-level post with a staff of more than 200 and offices in Washington, Geneva and Brussels. Since the Ford administration, it has come with Cabinet rank. If confirmed by the Senate, Mr. Kirk would probably spend much of his time overseas hammering out trade deals and persuading foreign leaders to drop trade barriers, curb movie piracy, and open new markets for American goods.

Mr. Kirk, 54, was the city's first black mayor. He helped win approval for two controversial projects, the Trinity River overhaul and American Airlines Center, and was considered an ally of business interests.

He ran for the Senate in 2002 but lost to Republican John Cornyn. Since, he's been a lawyer and lobbyist, and this year, he was a surrogate campaigner for Barack Obama, traveling to other states and helping to introduce the candidate at a big Reunion Arena rally. Talk about rewarding someone for their campaigning and not getting someone qualified.....

So Who Wants to Buy a Space Shuttle?

NASA is making plans for the American Space Shuttles once they are retired in a couple of years. So anyone want to buy a Space Shuttle? You'll only need about $50 million and a climate controlled area to display it. NASA is talking to several museums and schools about showcasing one of the 3 shuttles. Thankfully, one of the shuttles will be headed to the Smithsonian Institution's Air And Space Museum in Washington DC. The other 2 are fair game.

Now if you don't want a Space Shuttle....how about one of the main engines? They will only set you back a half million a piece or so...and that doesn't inclide shipping costs. Plans are to retire the Space Shuttle in September 2010, but word is Barack Obama's administration could decide to push that date back.

Is Caroline Kennedy at all Qualified for the Senate?

Now that Caroline Kennedy has declared her interest in the New York Senate seat being vacated by Hillary Clinton, the question must be asked. Is Caroline Kennedy at all qualified to be a United States Senator? Sure she is the daughter of former President John F. Kennedy and she comes from a family of politicians, but what made her suddenly seek the spotlight?

Caroline Kennedy has long ducked the spotlight and has never looked to move into politics. She has absolutely zero political experience of her own. Now she thinks she should be elected to the US Senate? Sorry friends, but I am not buying it. She should not get elected on her name alone.

And doesn;t it give us all great confidence when Al Sharpton comes out and says "I unequivocally disagree with those that say she is not qualified and could not bring needed leadership to this state and country," he said in a statement. That's one guy I sure listen too. We need people with experience and leadership abilities in Congress. Not someone who has no political experience other than a family name.

California the next to be bailed out after the Big 3?

So do we bailout the Big 3 automakers or do we bailout California? It seems our big liberal western state of California's state government is mega in debt and in danger of completely running out of money. The state faces a $28 billion budget shortfall over the next two years. If nothing is done, nearly $5 billion in public-works projects could be halted in little more than a week for lack of bond sales.

Today Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said that the state is losing money hand over fist and is currently at a deficit of $15 billion dollars. He called the efforts of California legislators "a shamefull performance" and calls the situation a "financial armegeddon".

The state is losing $500 a minute and $40 million a day currently. So who do you think is net after the Big 3 gets their money? Looks like it could be California!

Big 3 Auto Deal Heading to a Vote

After two trips to Washington to plead their case the Big 3 might get some of what they are asking for. It seems that Democrats and the Bush White House have finalized a deal to offer $15 billion on emergency loans for the struggling American automaker. There is still opposition among some Republican lawmakers however.

The plan would create a government "car czar" to oversee and distribute the loans, with the power to force the carmakers into bankruptcy if they did not cut quick deals with labor unions, creditors and others to restructure their businesses and become viable.

The plan will head to the House of Representatives where debate will start Wednesday afternoon and could be voted on within 24 hours.

Whats Wrong with this GM Picture?

Now what's wrong with this picture?

General Motors:
A company that has lost 80% of the value of its stock price over the last year.

A company that has laid off thousands of US workers over the last year.

A Company that lost $23 million over the last year.

A company that is in serious jeopardy of going bankrupt now.

A company whose CEO was paid $16 million over the last year.

OJ Simpson turned down plea deal before being found guilty

OJ Simpson could have accepted a plea deal with prosecutors that would have limited his to a significantly shorter sentence than what he ended up receiving. Simpson was convinced he would be found innocent and expected a public apology from prosecutors.

OJ Simpson was convicted October 3rd of 12 criminal charges, including the kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon which led to their sentences, and the armed robbery, conspiracy and burglary sentences that the judge folded in with the rest. Glass threw out two coercion charges. He was sentenced on Friday to as many as 33 years behind bars, with eligibility for parole after nine.

What Will Schwarzenegger Do After California Governor?

What will Arnold Schwarzenegger do after California Governor? The former movie star and popular governor will defeinitely have options. It's just a matter fo which direction he chooses to go after his term expires.

The 61 yr old Republican governor has been asked repeatedly whether he would entertain a position if offered one by the Democratic president elect, most likely focused on alternative energy or other environmental initiatives.

Will he share the stage with Al Gore as a global environmental crusader, promote green technology for a Barack Obama administration, run for the US Senate? Or might he pursue political reform on a broader scale, as he has hinted in appearances with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who shares Schwarzenegger's independent streak?

Schwarzenegger's name comes up as a possible US Senate candidate should Senator Dianne Feinstein decide to run for governor in 2010 or if he chose to run against Senator Barbara Boxer. Both are Democrats. But a governor accustomed to bright lights may be unlikely to feel satisfied in the Senate, as one actor in a cast of a hundred. His centrist political philosophy also could make it difficult for him to survive a Republican primary in his home state.
